I love Britten too (and sang one or two of his pieces in a choir in my youth, which was wonderful!) It was a rare treat to see "Sumidagawa". It is rather hard to describe, actually - you have to immerse yourself in it. No, I have never seen "Curlew River" either.
I love your description of Noh theatre. I've never experienced it although I've read about it.
