I have had a Zoom meeting every day this week, about this and that. A Board meeting, a neighbourhood association meeting, etc., etc.
Sometimes I get tired of “Zooming” (and still find it strangely tiring) but still, these were good meetings, and livelier than usual. I remember when we started online meetings during COVID, it was very stiff and uncomfortable, fraught with technical issues - and sometimes interrupted by horrible hackers. Nowadays, it all flows much more smoothly.
Today, I noticed that a very busy person was unable to join the morning meeting, so sent his AI Assistant instead, to take notes. Brilliant! So I looked up the AI program, and signed up for it. To my surprise, he (?) she (?) it (?) showed up at this evening’s Google Meet with the neighbourhood peeps, and took some rather odd meeting notes. Then it disappeared altogether - I was very disappointed that after half an hour or so my little assistant just signed off, without so much as a goodbye. I tried talking to him/her/it afterwards, and am not altogether clear about what his/her/its capabilities are. I will have to explore further.
I really like messing around with techie stuff online. I am often hopelessly defeated by it, but I still try. That’s really how I started blogging in the first place, thirteen years ago. The platform was really quite challenging then, especially as I was teaching myself. I used to spend hours struggling with photos that were always the wrong size. However, I didn’t give up.
By the way, I am quite irritated when I hear people say “Oh, older people don’t understand being online and computers.” Well, I am an older person and think this is really unfair. I do try to understand; and I actually enjoy it. AI is a new thing that I plan to tinker with. I’m always on a learning curve.
Having said that, I asked AI to generate this illustration below. What do you think?
I agree Zoom calls can be tiring, like any meeting, perhaps? I use AI to write a summary and supply a transcript of the interviews I do for my day job. It's very helpful, because it allows me to fully participate in the conversation and interact more naturally. And both my typing and handwriting are terrible.
