Well, I have had some sleepless nights recently, due to the bad knee (I told myself I wasn’t going to bore myself and others by talking about health issues, didn’t I? Well, I will just call it the “BK.”
Thanks to the glorious painkillers I have received, however, I have had some good snoozes for the past couple of nights. Last night was exceptional, in that I had the most insanely colourful, vivid, happy dreams. My husband and I were enjoying ourselves, with one other rather vague person (my sister perhaps?) at a beautiful hotel in Brazil. There was a big shiny swimming pool, lots of sweet music as only Brazilians can do it, and oodles of sunshine. Oh, and there were some carnival ladies in dazzling white, doing a dance routine.
The interesting part was when we decided to go on a boat trip. It was quite a small boat, with a very small sail. Suddenly, towering waves appeared, and the boat began to plunge up and down in a terrifying way. At first we were afraid. We were going to be swamped, at any minute. But I spoke up, albeit fearfully: “We are close to the coast though, aren’t we?” The boatman answered in the affirmative.
“Well,” I said cheerfully, “That’s all right then.” Nothing to fear, it seemed, although the waves were still threatening. The wonderful logic of dreams, I suppose.
At this point I must have woken up. In any case, I was quite content.
Like John Lennon, the dreamer, I do hope the world will live as one.
Some chance.
What a wonderful dream. Love Brazil. Worked in Salvador de Bahia for a month which was wonderful and then had an equally magical and different few days in Rio…
Yes, in Salvador da Bahia, twelve years ago. Someday, of course, I'd like to go to Rio as well.
